Andreas Von Einsiedel | Corbis Documentary | Getty ImagesThere are two common mistakes people make when hanging art in their homes, according to art consultant Louisa Warfield. People sometimes make the mistake of hanging artwork too high, according to art consultant Louisa Warfield. Louisa Warfield Art ConsultancyA guideline is to hang the work so that its center is about 150cm above the floor, Warfield said. Louisa Warfield Art ConsultancyIn a large home, a gallery wall might be about 160cm in height and about the width of the couch the art will hang above, Warfield said. Art collector Helen Sunderland Cohen said she aims for a "harmonious and balanced" environment when it comes to playing art.

CNN —Flowers and brunch are lovely for Mother’s Day, but there’s an invaluable gift almost every mom would enjoy: a healthier body image. But almost all postpartum moms, celebrity or not, face an unspoken mandate to “bounce back” to their pre-baby body. If moms feel preoccupied with their appearance, exercise or what they eat (even “healthy eating”), it could be a sign of significant maternal mental health problems. “The body isn’t what it was before. Awareness of these external diet culture directives can help moms start to push back against unrealistic and harmful ideals.

In “Civil War,” tanks trample democracy. But the messages they send may be more dangerous than the violence depicted onscreen: The collapse of democracy is inevitable. It's still sitting unused in a drawer, with other gift cards that I haven't touched. "Oh, I will," I responded, thinking of the other massage gift certificate from my birthday that was still tucked in my desk drawer, gathering dust. The massage gift card from last year sits on my dresser in a pile of other plastic cards that were cluttering my purse. Well-meaning gift-givers bestow us with restaurant cards, manicure gift cards, and even more grandiose gestures such as weekend getaways. For all gift-givers looking to show their mother how much they love them with such a gift, think of it like an all-inclusive resort.

All-inclusive hotels are making a big play for luxury travelers. In the wake of the pandemic, demand for all-inclusive resorts skyrocketed, according to a report by JLL Research Hotels & Hospitality. It was then that travelers discovered that the all-inclusive resorts of the past — known for bottom-shelf booze and quantity-over-quality dining — had changed. The numbers are even higher in Mexico, where upper upscale and luxury all-inclusive resorts accounted for more than half (55%) of its all-inclusive resorts in 2022. The brainchild of Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys, “the Portal” was unveiled on Wednesday and allows people on either side of the Atlantic to interact with each other via a video link. The idea was “conceived as a testament to the power of art to transcend physical barriers,” reads the press release from Gylys and officials from New York City and Dublin. The Dublin portal will also connect with other installations in Lithuania and Poland from July onwards, said de Róiste in the statement. CNN —The use of phrases such as “pregnant people” or “penis owners” in cultural or political discourse is sometimes met with confusion, or even anger. And it’s the most inclusive, streamlined way to refer to everyone who, regardless of their gender identity, has certain anatomy or biological abilities. Using gender-inclusive language can create an environment of acceptance, experts say. READ MORE: Gender identity: The difference between gender, sex and other need-to-knowsHere’s what experts have to say about these linguistic changes and concerns that have been raised. Gender-inclusive language may seem to be just words, but research has shown that acceptance can be lifesaving for transgender and nonbinary people, Miller said, both for medical and psychological reasons.

A group of Meta employees is calling out what they claim is internal and external censorship by the company of any show of support for Palestinians amid Israel's war with Hamas. Business Insider confirmed that the letter was authored by a group of current Meta employees, some of whom have linked to the letter on their personal online profiles. While some improvements were made to the products, they "were achieved only by appealing to isolated product teams, with minimal senior leadership support or resources," it added. Microsoft's internal communication app also saw debates among employees about the war and even inflammatory language, BI previously reported. The New York state comptroller sent a letter to Best Buy last week questioning whether the company changed its commitment to inclusivity and supporting LGBTQ groups. The comptroller's office manages the state's $207 billion public pension fund, which has invested in Best Buy. He also denied that the NCPPR pressured Best Buy to stop supporting LGBTQ groups in general. "This contentious and vast disagreement between radical gender theory activists and the general public has nothing to do with Best Buy selling electronics." Peck did not ask Best Buy to stop its donations to the HRC, saying in the email, "We understand that it's unrealistic for Best Buy to leave HRC in the near future because of their political clout."

Brisbane and Sydney, Australia CNN —The grassy expanse of the University of Queensland’s Great Court has long been the center of student life at the Australian state’s biggest university. “We will not be intimidated by these people,” said Students for Palestine Monash representative Madeline Curkovic. In response, the Sydney branch of Students for Palestine issued a call-out on Facebook to “defend” the camp. Students say they will stay at the University of Sydney for as long as it takes for their demands to be met. The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) has called on Australian universities to protect the right of students to peaceful protest, saying their action is justified.

Some legal observers believe the Weinstein decision could prove relevant as the hush money trial against former President Donald Trump unfolds in Manhattan. Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the trial and making day-by-day decisions about what evidence is allowed in court, is bound to the same guidelines as the Weinstein trial judge. Stephen Gillers, professor of law at New York University, said the Weinstein ruling will certainly be important to Merchan. Judge Madeline Singas dissented from the Weinstein appeals court ruling, saying the information was needed for the jury to consider. Gillers said the Weinstein decision is not just weighing on the judge’s mind.

In her series, “The Darkest Shade,” George reviews the darkest shade in a brand’s lineup to see if it could match her complexion. The darkest Youthforia shade, she claimed, was lighter than what was advertised online and didn’t match her skin tone. In March, the beauty brand added 10 new shades to its “Date Night” collection, many for darker complexions. “Which side of my face is the black face paint or the Youthforia foundation?” she asked in a Tiktok video posted April 30. George posted another TikTok video on Wednesday, which she captioned: "It's biologically impossible to be PURE black. Fewer construction workers means less — and slower — residential construction, which in turn leads to higher home prices, according to a 2023 report from researchers at the University of Utah and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Builders and infrastructure projects are in desperate need of all kinds of construction workers, but especially skilled tradespeople. Simonson said that allowing more immigrants into the country to fill construction jobs is crucial. Making the industry more appealing to womenBoushey pointed out that the share of women in the overall construction industry has climbed. The construction industry is also at a disadvantage because most workers can't do manual labor until they retire.
